Chef Hemant Oberoi is not only the Grand Chef of the Taj Group of Hotels and the Corporate Chef of the Taj Group Luxury Hotels, but also the Executive Chef of the Taj Mahal Hotel, Mumbai. Leading a team of 250 chefs, he oversees 9 restaurants and 12 banquet rooms, averaging 5000 meals a day.
His achievements include the award for Executive Chef of the Year in 1993, and Guest Chef for the World Gourmet Summit in Singapore in 2002.
He often accompanies the Prime Minister of India on trips overseas. He lately accompanied him to the USA, the UK and Japan. He also has catered special events for world leaders during his visit to Mumbai, including for President Clinton, Prince Charles, George Bush sen, President Jacques Chirac and Prime Minister Lady Margaret Thatcher.
Hemant has gained international recognition for his innovative approach to Indian cuisine with his promotion of Masala Art and Masala Kraft restaurants at the Taj hotels in New Delhi and Mumbai. He also developed the new Lemon Grass Cuisine Concept.
Hemant has also promoted high end Indian Cuisine during festivals and events in Zurich, Switzerland; Paris, France; Osaka, Japan; Bangkok, London, England; Brussels, Belgium; Mauritius and in New York.
